Current, Decay, Microstep ???

Postby fcapozzi » 29 Sep 2016, 16:19

Hi all, i am newbie in the CNC world and i am assembling my first CNC machine.
I have a TB6560 3 axis controller . On the board there are three group of 4 dip switch. From what i read the first switch control the Current Setting, the second one the Decay Mode, the third the MicroStep setting.
The default switch position already set on the board was :

Group 1 OFF OFF ON ON should be Current 25%
Group 2 OFF OFF ON ON should be Decay Mode SLOW
Group 3 OFF OFF ON ON should be MicroStep 1/8

The problem is that i did not well understand what really means this regulations and how to set them.
This setting have to be made once (at machine setup and configuration) or should be done every time according the material and the work to be carried out by CNC machine ?

Can you explain what this parameter are and how to set them best ?
Tnx, Fabio.

With current setting you set how much current will driver supply to the motors.

Microstepping: http://users.ece.utexas.edu/~valvano/Da ... rostep.pdf

Try PM users that are active in this thread: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=1107

They are very knowledgeable in this driver. I am sure they will be able help you.
