Jog & Limit Connectors

Postby pauca » 02 Feb 2016, 00:29

Hello, I'm having some trouble figuring out the best/correct/optimal way to wire the jog & the limit switches.
At the moment I have done the following wiring schematics for the job at hand.
After looking at many posts I got to the conclusion that is a "must" use a capacitor with the switches.

After much reading I came here asking assistance at my connections.

JOG CONNECTOR
Must the potentiometer be connectd to GND or can it be left in the "air"?
All the switches are NO press buttons

And.. Is it possible to explain what SHIFT & ALT1/ALT2 do?

LIMMIT Connector
In here is where the big problem is.... Can't figure out the best way to do this.
I want to use both limits, min & max. The first way that came into mind was the one on top but then came into my mind the other one... And then doubts... :|

You can use capacitors for jog keys, but you do not need them for limit switches.

Cool. Thank you for the quick answer.

And...
(1) the Jog Pot 3rd pin... should be connected to GND or can be left unplugged?

(2) what SHIFT & ALT1/ALT2 do? The info I found didnt help much.

SHIFT: Toggles 'step' jog mode or jogging for additional axes
Does it mean that instead of the axis move in some distance increments is going to move in some number of "motor steps"?
ALT1 & ALT2: Selects different jog mode
Cant figure this 2 out. Sorry but really need some help here.

In settings/Jog/Jogging Keyboard you can set SHIFT keas as step, meaning when you will jog with shift key pressed machine will move in pre-configured short distances.

ALT 1 and ALT 2 pins are reserved for different jog regimes which are going to be developed in the future.

3rd pin of potentiometer must be connected to GND - as you can see here:
