Control a laser by using PWM

Control a laser by using PWM

Postby seppel » 25 Oct 2016, 17:53

Hello, has anyone experience regarding laser controllers under usage of MK2/4 and the CNC USB Controller software?

I've got a laser which is controllable by TTL (0V OFF / 5V ON; 0-20kHz). So, simply I could create a circuit which control the power manually by a pot and the Mk2/4 switches only completely on and off.

Are there any proposals in order to control the power by using the MK2/4?
Thanks for your advice.

Mk2/4 can use PWM signal on its output, you can modulate signals duty cycle with S g-code. So you cold control your laser directly from g-code.

Okay nice. So I assume that I have to set the appropriate output pin in Output->Spindle & Coolant ->Output Pin -Velocity? But why the drop down menu there offers no choice. I can't select any pin.

Nice, but I can't edit the settings for Output->Sindel&Coolant->Output Pin - velocity. There is no drop down menu. What is wrong with my settings?

My board could output only a frequency modulated signal. So the duty cycle is always 50%.
