MK2 and chattering steppers

MK2 and chattering steppers

Postby ggarner6 » 10 May 2016, 04:59

I am using the MK2 to control
4 M542's ( ... /M542m.pdf)
which are driving 4 NEMA 23 bipolar motors with a 1.8* step angle and is 2.8A/phase

When I jog the motors at high speed they run smoothly and quietly. When I run them slowly they are super loud and chatter/vibrate a lot.

Any suggestions? I was micro stepping a 1/8 but the feed speed was very slow, so I switched to whole stepping (but even when micro stepping when moving slowly there is a lot of chatter.

My controllers can do: 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 1/16, 1/32, 1/64, 1/128; or 1/5, 1/10, 1/20, 1/25, 1/40, 1/50, 1/100, 1/125 and can take Pulse input frequency up to 300 KHz (although I dont know how to set that!) HAHA.

Pulse width is currently at 5μs and driver states it should be greater than n 1.5μs.

We apologize for such late response, some of posts were overlooked.

Do you still get loud chatter?
