Motors not moving

Motors not moving

Postby CContrata » 04 Jun 2016, 11:32

I just finished my CNC machine and I have everything hooked up, but the motors do not move at all, can't jog, nothing. This is what I have done.

At first, windows had errors so I went to Manual Bootloader Mode and updated firmware, with no internet connection. Windows driver error went away.
I then successfully activated with my code.
In the software, nothing is grayed out on the screen.

I can test cut in the software, but the motors never move.

With power off and USB cable disconnected, I Reseated all motor connections - no change
Power/USB disconnected, I reseated ribbon cable - no change
Changed USB cable 3 times - no change

Motors are getting power, but never move.

When you jog, the yellow tool in software is moving? Meaning, everything looks OK, you are just not able to move motors, correct?

Try this:
In File/Settings/Axes -> Motor Enable tab ; see if it is enabled, also change the "Invert" option

Yes, when I jog the yellow tool moves but not the motors.

I do not have a Motor Enable tab, so I thought maybe I am running older software?

(Version I am running)
SW: 2.1021011.2701
HW: 0001.01.01

So, I downloaded the newer version that now has the Motor Enable tab, however it will not let me activate the license.

New software loaded, updated firmware, activated license, motor tab - Enable checked, "Invert" grayed out. Motors still not moving.

We urge to you use latest STABLE or BETA version of sw.

Could you post picture of your controller?

Do you have one of Chinese counterfeit boards: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=520

We do not support these boards and therefore we cannot be responsible for any hardware or license malfunction.

If you just put the step motors on, there is a small screw that needs to tighten to the step motor pin, or the stepper will run, but nothing will move.
