Backslash and deceleration around corners

Backslash and deceleration around corners

Postby LeBear » 30 May 2016, 11:56

I am working with a friend to help setup his machine properly. The board used is a Mk1, from BuildYourCnc.
We discovered that, in order for the machine to slow down around corners and tight curves, there was a need to indicate a value on the Backslash form.

Having no idea of what could be a proper value, as we found no indications in the help/manual, we put 1. What would be a proper value to put there as the machine now slow down around corners, but it seems to slow down too much. What is the proper way to find which value should be put there?

Related to this, why there would be a link between lookahead and backslash? Should not the machine slow down in corners even WITHOUT any value input for Backslah, just using Lookahead values?

Thanks for your help in understanding how to optimize these settings.

Take care,
Bernard

You can do that in settings:
Settings/Lookahead/Angle -> inserted value represents values of angles at which machine doesn't decelerate.

Example:
If you have a square(90 degree angles), and in settings value 90 is inserted for Angle parameter, machine will not decelerate in corners of 90 degrees and further (90-180).

I got that. The' angle is set to 20, so it certainly should decelerate for a corner of 90 degrees, right? But it did not, until we set backslash. Is there something else that would trigger, or not, acceleration/deceleration in corners?
