MK1 and Drivers

Postby Fedgar » 30 May 2017, 19:49

I have a system based of a Fireball V90 that I purchased around 8 years ago.

One of the drivers has gone bad so I went and I purchased new drivers for all 3 axis.

Controller:
Drivers:

I am trying to figure out the wiring between the two. Currently I have the drivers wired as such:

+5VDC > +DIR and +PUL
STP > -PUL
DIR > -DIR

I have left Enable disconnected as the datasheet says to.

I would like to confirm I am wiring this correctly since the motor locks up like it is in holding mode... but never moves from there.

Any help is appreciated.

Try also connecting the enable ipnut.
Then configure it in settings: file/Settings/Axes/Motor enable

Thanks for the link. I can try connecting it with common cathode as well. See if that makes a difference.

This Mk1 driver doesnt have an enable output pin does it? So I am not sure how I would connect it, unless you mean to have me parallel the step or direction? Or just hook it up constant on?

Alright, I read your message and didnt get a chance to mess with it until just now.

So looking at your schematic, I see a problem. I have no Enable output.

Also, I swapped the wiring from common anode to common cathode with no luck. I am not sure if the enable should be left off, or if it should be jumpered or grounded etc.

I supplied the board part number, its a planet CNC part, I was hoping someone here would have a or could make a general schematic.

See drivers manual regarding enable pin idle status.
Maybe you need to jump it to ground.

Post picture of your drivers and your controller.

My original post has links to the drivers with spec sheets. As well as the controller model with what documentation I could find on it.
