The only real fault I've come across is that spindle synchronised movement for lathe screwcutting doesn't seem to be implemented yet.

Is the program status missing from TNG? In the old software I could see how much time was left running a project. I can't seem to find that in the new software. Also, I really miss the jogging control that the old software used. It was much easier to move my machine around multi-axis than the jogging bars provide in TNG. Anyway to add that option?

Thanks!

Hey Guys,

Today i installed the latest Beta on Linux and got some trouble. after Installation i could not open the PlanetCNC64.exe.
It Only Starts directly after the Installation. Did i something wrong?
When its open i could not move the Axis with my Numpad like in the standard Version do you still plan to implement it?

The Biggest problem is that i could not rotate G-Code like in the old Version. It doenst rotate around my actual Zero Position. It looks like that it only rotate around the absolut machine Zero
I attached an Image what it does.

Thanks in advance
Tommy

I got some Trouble with the "rotate Program" feature. everytime i try it doesnt rotate around my local Zero Position.
When the program is rotated and i change my Zero start point it moves in the wrong direction.

And the new Beta Linux Installer (2017.03.22) seams to have some trouble with the .exe, it only starts directly after the instalation. If i close the program i couldnt start it again...btw i didnt have much experience with linux.

thanks for your help

Unfortunately screwcutting is not usable just yet, due to similar problems as described in my previous thread here: viewtopic.php?f=18&t=5022

Things are better in some respects, such as the tachometer display, which is now accurate with either Index or Encoder inputs and is great.

I'm still getting a thread pitch error though, but vastly reduced when compared to the software previous to TNG - I'd say by about 80% or 90%.

Using a G76 move with either Index or Encoder synchronisation, an effect I am seeing is of poor tracking of previous threading passes by subsequent passes and is highlighted by altering the spindle speed slightly as the tool returns to the start of the next pass - as if data from the last pass is still being used for the next pass. Athough the lathe carriage does change its velocity with changes in RPM, it isn't locked to it well enough for thread cutting of any sort. I have tried making alterations to the Debounce setting all the way from 0 to 10000 with no change in performance for my setup. One other thing I've noticed is that the Z axis return moves speed up on the spring passes too.

Many thanks, Martin.

Please post your TNG settings, g-code program and the parameters of thread you are trying to achieve.

Please post also pictures of current workpiece which gives unsatisfactory results.

@TommyK: We somewhat fixed this to make these features more user friendly. Although the concept that is currently used for these rotations etc is by the book.

Modifications will be included within next release of TNG software.

Clicking on the help menu item brings up a .pdf with no actual information ( just a printing template ) and the software download page only has a manual from 2014. I understand that a lot of it's the same as CNC USB SW but would be nice to have an actual manual for TNG. Especially for people who haven't used any planet-cnc software before and/or have their machine out in the back shed with no internet connection!!
Speaking of documentation putting some step by step instructions within the manual ( or another menu item under 'help' perhaps )for common activities would be nice, for example initial setup/calibrating, drawing import examples. Tutorials are good but I think common tasks should be included in a software manual. IMHO ;)

Oh and XHC pendant integration would be really good, even my old MACH3 SW could do that. :D

But on the whole I love the software especially for its ability to accept various drawing files and is well priced.

Yeah, I'm looking for the TNG Manual as well. The one that came with the Install is just a "lorem ipsum" template.

Manual should be finished in next weeks. Thank you for your patience.
Please note that visualisation of 4-axis g-code is not trivial and there is not correct way of displaying it.
We believe that TNG displays g-code correctly.
