New version 2.10.1406.1201

CNC USB Controller Software

New version 2.10.1406.1201

Postby Andrej » 17 Jun 2014, 07:38

New software version is finally here.
We regularly published beta versions. We didn't want to publish new official version until Mk3 is finally finished.

Mk3 support is main new feature but there are also lot of other improvements that were made during this time. Most of them were already available in beta versions.

It seems that new user manual from 2014-06-12 contains quite a few interesting improvements as in the manual itself as well as user interface, however I haven't seen those improvements in the latest software release. Are those new features are still being worked on? Or I missinterpreted latest release with the announced much improoved new version of the software?
Thank you!

New User Manual is still under improvement. Only "File menu" chapter and "G-code" chapter are updated.
Which improvements you can't find in software?
There should be even more improvements in software than there is described in manual.

Almost all settings section pics (tab menu system) are quite different in the manual from what I can see in the actual programm settings. Also I saw a second "Tool" button on the left side panel (Offset - Measure Tool Offset Here: Measures tool length at the current location, using a ‘movable’ tool sensor.)

I see that a lot of work went into that manual and I appreciate it very much (as many of us are/would, I can imagine).

Hi,

When you use the camera for capture transforming data, the captured points are wrong calculated. When you use command /48101 then the position of the tool is saved. Using command /48107 saves position of the camera with wrong shift calculation. If you watch the camera window, the showed XYZ coordinates are calculated to the other direction. Using this coordinates in the transforming calculation will work.

Just updated to the new software and firmware and my axis have all been reversed. I tried to reverse all axis directions in the settings, but now my zero point is at the opposite corner to where I want it. What did I do wrong here?

You should set this in Jog settings under Reverse and not in Axes settings.

I just installed the new version and most everything seems to work O.K. Only difference I noticed (compared to the July 2013 Version) the e-stop control input (for locking mushroom button) was inverted. No big deal, I changed the "invert" check box for this input in the settings and it works now fine. I did not have to invert the jog inputs. They operate just as they did before.

Just updated to 2.10.1406.1201, and now the machine is in E-Stop.
Tried to invert the input, and also tried to remove the check on Use E-stop, but still the machine is in E-Stop.
Please help.

I was about to start a big job, and time is short.
Is there any way I can revert to old Version and firmware, as they worked OK?

Cant find where to also reverse the Estop on the pendant.

You can reverse e-stop on MPG if you click:

File/Settings/Ctrl -> E-stop, you can see "Invert" checkbox

Sorry for all the fuzz..
Reversing the Estop on the pendant was under Ctrl..
Also had to reverse all inputs for the JOG...

This SHOULD have been stated on Your download side!

Hi, Is there ever going to be an updated program that will match the manual? I would like to see it so I can use it to control my laser. Waiting for It.

Having written many manuals myself for my own software over the years, I can say the following about the process:

Writing manuals takes a *long* time. Each step of the instructions has to be checked and double checked. Screenshots have to be taken, sections highlighted, text written, formatted, spell checked , grammar checked, indexed, etc. Add to that the fact that English is not the native tongue of the developers. The manuals then have to be given to other people to test that the instructions are complete, correct, make sense, are easy to follow and that the screenshots and the highlights match the instructions. Feedback from testers is then incorporated back into the manuals and the cycle then repeats. Then if the software developers add new features that require new or changed dialogs boxes, menus, etc, the manual must go through fairly big changes and the process repeats. Writing manuals is tedious, meticulous and hard work. With a small company like PlanetCNC, the same people may be doing several jobs and there are only so many hours in a day. There are some pretty amazing people at PlanetCNC doing all this for us. So I just wait patiently, because I know from personal experience, that manuals are done, when they are done.

I am sure that the new manual is going to be great and well worth the wait. Keep up the good work as it is most definitely appreciated.

My question is:
Is any one using this program commercially?
I mean, not just hobby, for a few hours, but running machine 24/7
maybe, 30 hours continuously

I'm using it only for my hobby. I was using this for more then 10 hours without pause. And I went sleep when machine was running. Product was always without any mistake and exactly how I expect it. Just for sure, I want to mount web camera in my work room. So I can supervise my machine from my living room to work room.
