Windows XP crashed while machining

Postby domtw » 21 May 2017, 05:58

Yesterday, while I was running a long program (~200000lines), my laptop (XP) crashed without warning, without error message.
I had to restart the laptop, restart CNC USB controller, find where the machine had stopped and restart from that line. That was tricky but doable...

It did that more than 10 times!
I guess it is related to the communication with the Mk3 because when the program was finished the laptop didn't crash anymore.

What could be the reason for such crash?
Do you have any suggestion on what I should check?

It is possible that your computer is under-powered...

Concur that.
Had the same issue with my old laptop (win XP, IBM), after "upgrading" to a slightly newer machine (2xcores laptop) the reboot/crash issue was gone.
