Tool sensor and surface detection

Postby panimac » 27 Jan 2017, 09:15

I have some problems with Surface Detection measure,

as i read i must put 0 in z axis offset and tool offset before start.

If i dont use the Offset for Z axis Z20 in code below is in overtravel + side.

When i do it manually it work, touch the sensor and move + 5mm from the surface.

If i do it in the program with G10 L7 R-4, touch the sensor, move up and after go rapid down

in the surface or move in rapid in positive overtravel(up).

%
G00 Z20 (the torch about 20 mm above the material)
G10 L7 R-4 (machine starts to descent in order to measure material surface; R-value represents the distance of your floating axis from the moment it starts to float to the moment it triggers limit switch(R -XX), this value should be measured on your machine)
G00 Z10 (raising the torch 10mm above the material)
G00 Z4 (lowering the torch 4mm above the material)
M3 (Ignition of plasma ON)
G04 P1 (time to pierce the material 1s)
%

After some tries, manual tool offset

What i do wrong?

Work good if i remove G0 Z20 before G10 L7.

This procedure has its flaws. With new PlanetCNC TNG software things will be much more simple, clear and evident and on point.
