Laser control

Postby GIJim » 09 Oct 2017, 17:51

Hello to all. This is my first post to this forum and as a nebie to the world of cnc I apologize in advance for any lack of understanding on my part. I recently completed the mechanical assembly of my cnc machine, although it's still has a ways to go. At the moment I have the machine moving both the x & y axis l ( no z axis built yet). As such I was trying to get a 2500 mW laser working in the interim. The problem I'm having is connecting the laser to the controller. My laser has a 5v connector and a 12v connector. I have tried the laser just by manually connecting to the required supplies and it does fire. When I test the mk 3 board for 5v "on" signal while testing out a circle test I get no signal to fire the laser. I think I need to configure an output pin to control the on/off of the laser but I'm not sure where or how to do this. If anyone could point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated.

Thanks Jim
