Mk3/4 spindle control for thread cutting?

Mk3/4 spindle control for thread cutting?

Postby jongscx » 01 Jun 2017, 15:36

Converting a Boxford Duet Educational CNC machine into something actually useful.

Spindle has built-in encoder, outputs +5v incremental quadrature ABZ signal, controlled by 0-10V analog signal through a "VFD" (Actually a DC Speed controller).

Can the Mk3/4 A)accept this signal or do I need to use an isolator board to get it to 3.3V and B)Use this signal for spindle position dependent operations like thread cutting?

Thanks
