API over Ethernet without drivers?

Postby dwizeno » 06 Oct 2015, 05:54

A Support reply on this forum allready confirmed that the API works over ethernet. Does this also mean that controller can be used over ethernet without installing any MK3 board related drivers?

It is recommended that you install USB drivers, just so that if you would need to configure your settings at the start using USB.

From your reply I gather that API does not expose full functionality.
Are there plans to support full functionallity through API? I just bought MK3, partly to toy with API. Would be nice not being dependent on drivers.

Controller will work without any drivers as also API, (i presume you mean USB driver) what i meant was if you would need to troubleshoot something its good to have also USB communication accessible.

OK thanks.
Yes I meant the USB drivers, not the required servo/stepper drivers
