Digital readout (DRO)

Postby Andrej » 01 Feb 2012, 16:34

I've included only ones that are most visible.
Colors like light blue on blue are not visible enough in my opinion.

Is the digital readout part of the IC2 project, and are you going to produce these.

Andrej

Techsupplies are selling excellent 20x4 OLED displays
http://www.techsupplies.co.uk/epages/St ... ts/AXE134Y

These are much easier to read than LCD

Best Regards

Would buying this I2C Serial 2004 module work ? and is this the same item similar to you I2C DIY device.

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/I2C-Serial-2 ... 0700138365

I would like to add a coordinate system if possible.

OLED is good but it is really MUCH expensive! About 38$ ( inc VAT ) for this one... LCD looks good too... and have little power consumption unlike OLED.

This one will not work via I2C.

Hi Andrej
Is DRO via I2C only accessible with MK2?
Cannot find info for connections and setup.
Settings/help file are only confusing and not very informative on this :(

I2C is on Mk1 and Mk2.
For Mk2/4 you need UART version. Plans are available here:

So Mk2/4 supports DRO by serial only (TTL)?
Which pin is used for this?

Maybe it was a good idea to grey out functions that do not relate to model in settings :(

UART is on OUTPUT7 pin.

I have a question :

Can be increased refresh rate of the serial data channel ,because 10 hertz are a slow for more than 2 axes.

Could not be sent information about more than one axis on tick , I think it would not be delayed much the controller?

There is too much delay.

Hi Andrej,
is it allways possible to connect DRO on my new MK2 controller?
I suppose i must connect to I2C connection...
thanks for your response

It is best if you connect DRO to UART on OUTPUT7 pin. It is faster than I2C.

I am not very well versed with all the technical jargon and read only English.
I went on the suggested site but which one do I need for 2/4?
Which one is the UART?
Cheers

I guess the one I need is this one but, unfortunately, all I get is a diversion to another forum. I only read and write English :(

You can download project by clicking "external display for MK1, MK2 cnc controller" .. it is just wordpress do not made direct link by default and generate discution page :) btw you can use this direct LINK

p.s: you need also change source to support new MK2 protocol ( MK1 was not changed ), i will make it soon ( but i'm working on complete solution for now )
