Chinese Laser Cutter conversion.

Postby Planetnewby » 17 Dec 2015, 13:34

Hi
I want to use my Mk3/4 controller board to run my Chinese 40W Laser cutter, preferably using the existing drivers and stepper motors.
Has anybody done this?
I want to do this in order to import and run .dxf files as I am only interested in cutting out 2D shapes.
I am an experienced CNC programmer in ISO code.
Cheers

Yes this is possible. We retrofitted our Chinese laser to Mk3/4.
What would you like to know?

I need to know the electrical connections to the drivers and the laser tube.
The PSU on the laser cutter is 24V which is correct for the board.
When the board is operating the laser cutter properly I would then appreciate some guidance on modifying the CNC code to run the cutter, probably replacing Z axis spindle movements with M codes such as M00 and M05, I believe there may be some tweaking neccesary to the feed rates and acceleration but that will come later.

I finally have my 40W Chinalaser running using .DXF files and it is very succesful, now I have another question, will it be possible to laser print from bitmap files?
